The Wounded Warrior Project serves as an advocate for wounded soldiers to press for positive changes to benefits for wounded soldiers and veterans policies. They have benefits counselors who work with severely wounded soldiers as they return to the States. The group also provides a social networking opportunity for wounded soldiers and their families, peer mentoring, transitional employment training, and career placement assistance, a Wounded Warrior Disabled Sports Project and provides backpacks with essential items for wounded soldiers to use during hospital stays.

The group also offers caregiver retreats, realizing that loved ones who provide much of the care for wounded soldiers occasionally require some physical and mental rejuvenation. The Caregiver Retreats are free of charge and are held at numerous locations around the country.

For soldiers, wounds extend from the physical to the stress of combat. Project Odyssey is the Wounded Warrior’s program for helping our fighting men and women readjust to life away from the fighting. The program is in conjunction with the National Park Service and takes place over five-day periods of recreational recovery with other soldiers. Peer support is a key factor in the program.

The retreats are held in various locations around the country, including Graham, Texas, Cocoa Beach, Miami, Park City Utah, and Acadia National Park in Maine.

The Wounded Warrior Project calls Project Odyssey a “therapeutic journey in a novel, dynamic setting with peers and support from Wounded Warrior Project and Vet Center professionals.” There are individual Project Odyssey programs for men and women. Participation requirements include the ability to travel to the retreat location and a screening with a licensed clinician. Participants must also be seeking treatment for combat stress and must be new to the Project Odyssey program.

The Wounded Warrior Project’s Track program helps soldiers with an integrated approach to providing education and training, advocacy and secondary rehabilitative care. With Track, wounded soldiers can take college classes and receive services customized to their particular needs. The goal is to help them build new career skills and create more personal independence.

Track is provided through Florida State College at Jacksonville. Participants can apply the credits they earn in the program towards bachelor and associate degrees or vocational certificates.

“I don’t know how much help I’ll be able to offer,” Rostron said. “Certainly not enough. I am hoping other people, who haven’t heard about it, will recognize the value of the Wounded Warrior Project and pitch in a little, too.”

Local 669 Sprinkler Fitters
Apprenticeship Opportunities (Statewide)

The Local 669 Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC) conducts a five year apprenticeship program in all or part of 46 states in the U.S. for Sprinkler Fitters who are piping mechanics specializing in Fire Protection. We also have excellent insurance, pension and education plans. The apprentice's entry-level rate is based on a percentage of the Journeyman rate of $35.64 per hour and may increase every six months if qualified. Previous experience in construction or related college or military experience may enhance the entry-level wage.

The minimum qualifications for entry into the Program are:

1. Must be the age of 18 or over.
2. Must be a high school graduate or have G.E.D.
3. Must be physically fit to perform the work of the trade.
4. Must have military discharge under other than dishonorable conditions, if applicable.

Applications will be accepted five days per week, except holidays, 52 weeks per year between the hours of 9:00 - 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 - 3:00 p.m. at the contractor/employers address. (See below for statewide locations) All completed applications will be held on file until there is a need to interview applicants for expected opportunities.

BASIC FUNCTION

Maintain a current understanding of existing, new and pending legislative and regulatory changes within the residential mortgage industry. 1. Works closely with both the company’s inside and outside audit and Quality Control functions, with the primary goal of ensuring that risk levels are maintained within established limits. Work with internal auditor and compliance manager to provide both a short-term and long-term resolution to identified items. Coordinates required information needed for outside audits and regulatory examinations to ensure records are readily available and assistance is provided. Provides consistent focus on procedural improvement while maintaining efficiency, limiting risk, and exceeding customer expectations.

1. Provide direction to Loan Processors and Loan Processing Supervisors on all functions necessary to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the company’s loan processing function. Maintain a major emphasis on loan quality and customer service.

1. Provide direction to Lock Desk Associates on all functions necessary to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the company’s interest rate lock function. Maintain a major emphasis on pricing accuracy and consistency.

1. Provide direction to Loan Closers and Loan Closing / Shipping Supervisor on all functions necessary to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the company’s loan closing function. Maintain a major emphasis on documentation quality and customer service. Closely manage the company’s funding activities. 

1. Provide direction to Post Close Associates to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the company’s loan shipping and post-close functions. Maintain a major emphasis on the timely delivery of closed loan packages, as well as the tracking and delivery of trailing loan documents.

1. Work closely with bank management and Quality Control Associate(s) on all functions necessary to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the company’s pre-close quality control function. Maintains a major emphasis on ensuring that the highest possible quality loan underwriting and documentation standards are maintained.

1. Ensure that an environment of teamwork is maintained at all times. Interface with other departments as necessary to ensure the smooth operation and growth of the Organization.

1. Maintain the highest possible level of customer service.

1. Develop and maintain policies, procedures and standards to protect organization and investor assets and investment. Train Loan Officers and Staff on policies and procedures.

1. Prepares, reviews and verifies department-generated reports for processing and risk management. Coordinates and obtains various reports needed for department and management use. Ensures data integrity.

1. Maintains a high commitment to employee development. Works with direct reports to set performance standards that are specific and measurable, as well as consistent with company culture and core values. Provide on-going training to ensure employee knowledge base allows for an exceptional level of customer service while limiting risk. Supports the ongoing implementation of performance measurement systems.

DUTIES:  You will be responsible for:  (1) Performing hands on design and programming approximately 10-15% of the time; (2) Project managing development activities and projects and overseeing the development of domestic and offshore development staff 85-90% of the time; (3) Hands on design, programming, implementation and support of n-tier and highly advanced web based e-commerce based applications; (4) Working closely with end-users, executive management, business partners, third party vendors, and other IT professionals throughout the US and worldwide; (5) Actively participating in design sessions for process identification and redesign; (6) Designing and developing intuitive designs and specifications for offshore development staff; (7) Conducting virtual webinars to facilitate knowledge transfer to offshore development staff ; (8) Assisting with release management and active participation in every phase of the software development lifecycle (Agile and waterfall).

REQUIRED:

Must be local to the Chicago metropolitan area.

10 years of STRONG/CURRENT programming of n-tier and web based applications that are complex in nature.

MUST have STRONG/CURRENT hands on development skills AND STRONG/CURRENT project management experience.  This role is for a senior developer who is also project managing initiatives.

5 yrs of EXPERT level & CURRENT VB.NET and Javascript development with web services, AJAX, UI design, stored procedures, DTS packages, SOAP, XML, UML, ODBC, MS SQL Server, IIS.

MUST be willing to work on a critical project focused on VB.NET with later projects focused on C#.

MUST have STRONG/CURRENT experience with in depth software design, web (eCommerce or web based retail store) and client/server development, and problem solving skills.

Ability to work as needed in pm and early am to conduct webinars and do knowledge transfer to off shore development staff.

Must be eager to take on a leadership role and drive exciting, collaborative solutions.

Personality: Must have attitude that nothing is impossible and be an optimist with setting and achieving high goals, while being a consummate team player.  Must have excellent customer and relationship building skills with excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills.

Pluses:  Speaks/writes Mandarin Chinese. Team Foundation Server.  Source Safe Version Control Tools. IIS tuning.
